The reading material presents us with three proofs which certifies the idea that electronic medical
records are superior to paper-based ones. However, the listening material disputes this idea with
another three factors.
According to the reading, electronic medical record saves money because it reduces fees of
storage and transportation. However, the professor of the lecture maintains that even though
doctors have electronic medical records, they would also keep a paper record in case emergencies happen.
In addition, the passage holds the view that electronic record largely reduces the happening of
mistakes. By contrast, the lecturer holds that mistakes are more likely to happen because doctors
prefer to keep records of patients in the paper when they examine patients and then put the records
into computer. Poor handwriting could lead to serious errors.
Ultimately, the writer takes the attitude that electronic medical records help establish a data base
which promotes medical research. On the other hand, the professor disputes that medical records
should not be too easily accessible and they are protected by law. Only when you get the owner’
s agreement can you use the records. Therefore, it is still troublesome to use a data base of
medical records.(198)

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The rules that the whole society
today expect young people to follow are too strict.
现在的年轻人只允许去一个老婆,太严格了;
现在的女人啥都可以干,上学工作等等;比过去自由多了;
现在的年轻人可以自由选择对象,比过去强很多;
1. Movies and television programs should present stories in which good people are rewarded and
bad people are punished.
2. Parents should allow children to make mistakes and let them learn from their own mistakes.
3. Professional athletes, such as football and basketball players, do not deserve the high salaries that they are paid.
It is indispensable that there are a lot of rules which young people must follow in modern society.
From our childhood, we are required to obey these rules so as to be a qualified citizen in the future.
Some people cast doubts on these rules because they think these rules are too strict. Personally speaking, I disagree with their view.
Admittedly, some rules are indeed very strict and young people will get punished when they do not follow them. This is because if they do not follow these rules, they may form bad habits which can lead to potential accidents or bad results. For instance, Traffic rules are very strict which
should not only be followed by young people, but also be followed by all citizens. We are taught
to wait until the green light is on when we cross roads. However, if we ignore these rules and do
as what we are willing to do, traffic accidents will increase dramatically and traffic will fall into
chaos. I read on the newspaper the other day about a primary school student who runs across the
road when the red light is on and the boy was miserably hit by the car and died. This kind of tragic
should be avoided and we should draw lessons from this accident. However, asserting that all
rules that we expect young people to follow are too strict is an overstatement because young
people sometimes do not have to follow certain rules.
A case in point is that nowadays, many schools require students to wear uniforms at school. This is because students will talk less about fashion and become more focused on their studies if they wear uniforms. However, schools now also allow students to wear their favorite clothes on a certain school day for the reason that many students have a strong desire to show their personality and their taste for clothes. It turns out that students study better when they can wear clothes as they like. From this example, we can see that some rules are humane and there are times when young people do not have to follow them.
In summary, many rules that the society expect young people to follow are indeed strict, while some rules are not that strict. Therefore, I disagree with the statement above. (385)
