在前段时间的复习强化阶段，已经具备了一定的考研英语的基础知识了。但感觉糟糕的是发现自己在进行翻译练习的时候，仍然会出现“词不达意”、“句子不通”的问题。下面对英译汉的难点在最后的这段暑期阶段如何强化复习提供以下方法，希望同学们的复习有所奏效。
举例说明几种英译汉的方法：
1、词意引申法：
【例1】It is all very well, again, to have a tiger in the tank, but to have one in the driver’s seat is another matter altogether.
【译文】当然油箱里装满优质汽油倒是好事，但是驾驶室里要是坐着横冲直撞的司机就完全是另一回事了。顺便提一下，It is all very well(for sb. to do sth.)，but...意为“……当然可以……但……”
【分析】本句中tiger原义为“老虎”，但在此处意指“标号高的优质汽油”;本文是讲司机在马路上开车时的行为举止，故第二个不定式中的one(tiger)，从上下文的逻辑意思看，无疑是指“横冲直撞的司机”，相当于英语中的a reckless driver。
【例2】The method of scientific investigation is nothing but the expression of the necessary mode of working of the human mind...
【译文】科学研究的方法不过是人类思维活动的必要表达方式……
【分析】working是work的动名词，原义为“工作、操作”，此处与of the human mind搭配，根据上下文的逻辑意思，可引申为“活动”，既符合汉语的表达习惯，又使译文通顺达意。
2、倒装的用法：
例：Odd though it sounds,cosmic inflation is a scientifically plausible consequence of some respected ideas in elementary particle physics,and many astrophysicists have been convinced for the better part of a decade that it is true.
宇宙膨胀说虽然听似奇特，但它是基本粒子物理学中一些公认的理论在科学上看来可信的推论。许多天体物理学家七、八年来一直认为这一论说是正确的。
例：For example,they do not compensate for gross social inequality,and thus do not tell how able an underprivileged youngster might have been had he grown up under more favorable circumstances.
例如，测试并不能弥补明显的社会不公;因此，它们不能说明一个物质条件差的年轻人，如果在较好的环境下成长的话，会有多大才干。
例：Thus,the anthropological concept of culture, like the concept ofsetin mathematics,is an abstract concept which makes possible immense amounts of concrete research and understanding.
因此，人类学中“文化”概念就像数学中“集”的概念一样，是一个抽象概念，它使大量的具体研究和认识成为可能。
3、词类的转换：
【例1】Until such time as mankind has the sense to lower its population to the point where the planet can provide a comfortable support for all, people will have to accept more“unnatural food”.
【译文】除非人类终于意识到要把人口减少到这样的程度：使地球能为所有的人提供足够的饮食，否则将不得不接受更多的“人造食品”。
【分析】在原文中sense是名词，作has的宾语，但在have the sense (of sth./to do sth. )中sense是习语的主体，故译成汉语时常可转译为动词“意识到”。
【注意】英语中许多具有动作意义的名词和由动词派生的名词，往往可根据需要转译成汉语中的动词。例如：Rockets have found application for the exploration of the universe. (火箭已用来探索宇宙。)
【例2】...we must be sure that the scale with which we are comparing our subjects provides a“valid” or“fair” comparison.
【译文】……我们必须确保，在对我们的对象进行比较时，我们所使用的尺度要能提供“有效的”或“公平的”比较。
【分析】sure是形容词，译成汉语时转换为动词“确保”。
【注意】英语中有些表示知觉、情绪、欲望等心理状态的形容词，作表语时，常可转成汉语动词。这类形容词有：able, afraid, angry, ashamed, aware, anxious, careful, cautious, certain, concerned, confident, doubtful, glad, grateful, ignorant (不知道), sorry, thankful等。
4、否定转移法：
【例1】I don’t think you have paid for it yet.
【译文】你大概还没有付款吧。
【注释】句中实际否定部分是从句的谓语。英语中能用于这种结构的动词think, believe, suppose, imagine, expect, feel等。
【例2】He didn’t run very fast in the school sports.
【译文】他在学校运动会上跑得不快。
【注释】句中实际否定部分是fast。
建议考生，要从心里树立正确的翻译意识，英译汉之所以在考研英语题型中得分率比较低，主要还在于英语和汉语是两种完全不同的语言，其思维方式和表达习惯也完全两样。所以老师建议同学们站在美式英语的角度，换思维思考。
